Mr Ugly Austin Mbewe

  BEITBRIDGE - beauty contest and also good looks might have been normal. What if the contest was held to find the ugliest man?

Austin Mbewe (30) from the city of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, proudly wearing the crown of Mr. Ugly (Mr. Ugly), he also won a prize money of USD173 and a blanket.

"I feel very flattered by this award. I have always been the subject of ridicule as a child and the world can now know that there is the beauty of my ugliness," said Mbewe told The Herald newspaper.

"I am very confident with my face this natural and confident. This is a very tight contest, but eventually my hard work get results," he said as reported by the Global Post, Tuesday (05/31/2011).

Event held at Pagomo Heights Leisure Centre, Beitbridge, the region bordering South Africa is attracting more viewers who are very interested. They're even in droves to witness this ugly man contest.

Approximately 15 men competed in the contest ugly. It turned ugly six male participants had been too nervous at the last minute.

Contests ugly man who has been running this third year, supported by a Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and the National Arts Council. All the judges of this contest is a woman. The contestants are judged based on the use of dress, casual, smart casual, safari and sports.
