STLtoday - Madison County Transit fixed-route monthly bus passes are available for purchase at all 14 Walgreens stores in Madison County, doubling the number of locations where MCT passes have been sold.
Walgreens locations in Alton, Bethalto, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Granite City, Highland, Maryville, Troy and Wood River have all signed on to sell the passes and all served by MCT bus routes. The addition of Walgreens as a pass sales outlet comes as MCT reports its best May ridership in agency history: more than 172,000 passengers, a 17 percent increase over May 2010.
MCT sells two types of monthly passes: the local monthly pass and the MCT system monthly pass. The local pass provides unlimited fixed-route trips in Madison County all month long for $40. The system pass provides unlimited fixed-route trips in Madison County, to MetroLink stations and to downtown St. Louis all month for $60.

By launching his presidential campaign today in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty at Liberty State Park, in Jersey City, New Jersey — the very same spot from which Reagan himself launched his historic general election campaign of 1980 — Huntsman has wasted no time with subtlety. He has forced the political world to consider whether or not he is a worthy successor to the Gipper.
Okay, Jon, here it is, right between the eyes: You are no Ronald Reagan.
Even Reagan said that without his ideas and philosophy, he would be just another former actor.
And Reagan certainly wouldn’t have arranged a photo-op with and publicly praised Henry Kissinger just days before announcing his candidacy. In fact, a large part of Reagan’s 1976 campaign for president was spent smacking Kissinger and his policies as hard as he could. And the 1980 campaign was based on a complete refutation of Kissinger’s policy of détente.
Ronald Reagan wouldn’t have released a vapid advertisement featuring himself on a popcorn popper motorcycle. Reagan preferred to evoke the imagery of the West the old-fashioned, manly way — with a horse.
The mere fact that some in the elite have wet their pants with excitement about these commercials should speak volumes.
And Reagan never gave a speech without content, as Huntsman did at Liberty State Park.

He’s the GOP’s Barack Obama. In Huntsman’s announcement today, his remarks were infused with possessive pronouns, just like Obama. Huntsman is the darling of the liberal media, just like Obama. Huntsman seems lost when it comes to understanding America, just like Obama.
We are awash in personality candidates. Obama won in 2008 as the ultimate personality candidate, a political Rorschach inkblot test in whom voters saw whatever they wanted to see. Now he’s the nation’s first Facebook president. Look where that got us.
Most Americans are on the right side of the spectrum. They are knowledgeable and far more sophisticated about politics and government than the commentariat gives them credit for.
They are awash in personalities, and are sick of them. They don’t want Kim Kardashian as their president. They want someone of substance and depth and content who uses the personal pronouns “we” and “us” more than he uses “I” and “me,” and who understands what it is about America that makes it great — and will do everything in his power to restore that greatness.
The American people don’t want American idols. They want an American idealist.

Man Arrested Allegedly Linked The Pentagon Bomb
This morning. a man was arrested after authorities found a suspicious looking package inside his car near the Pentagon.
The man is believed to be a naturalized U.S citizen from Ethiopia.
Al Qaeda-related statements, a backpack containing ammonium nitrate, and spent 9mm shells were found in the car, authorities say.
FBI Special Agent Brenda Heck described the man as being “approximately in his twenties” and said he was “not forthcoming” when he was arrested.
Law enforcement work near the Pentagon after a suspicious vehicle forced multiple road closures Friday.
US Park Police then searched for the man’s vehicle. A short time later, the car — described by Heck as a red 2011 Nissan — was located near the Pentagon.
The car was searched by bomb experts, Heck said, who did not find “significant explosive related materials.”
Agents also found a backpack near the vehicle containing “suspicious items” that Heck said were a “non-explosive unknown material.”

Somebody,anonymously claims that Pottermore project is a "Harry Potter branded smartphone as well as a portal for additional content for smartphones.
I won't tell you the phone partner, but it's not one of the big players (well, at least not anymore)."
Will the hordes of Harry Potter fanatics fans be enough to negate the fact that branded phones are a horrible, foolish idea? Maybe!

Night Hours for the Cats in Sydney
SYDNEY, - Some areas in Sydney, Australia, impose unusual rules . The cats are prohibited from wandering from sunset until sunrise. Cat curfew was to reduce attacks on native Australian wildlife.
This rule is inspired by deputy major Michele McKenzie's son actions who rescue animals brushtail possums (a squirrel) and her baby from a cat attack.
Possum, a type of marsupial animals, including one of Australia's native animals and animal classified as nocturnal or active at night.
Opportunities to live and breed possums thinning because they often become victims of cat attacks at night. Often opossums can not escape from because like their cats, cats can climb.
In the past year, there were at least 564 ringtail possum that attacked a cat in the region. Meanwhile, according to the Australian Veterinary Association, every year 74 million native Australian animals killed by cats attack.
"Our request to the owner of the cat is very few, namely confining their cats indoors, if you want to protect our native wildlife," deputy mayor Michele McKenzie.
"After all they lived here first, before we raise animals in the house. So we are responsible for controlling our pet," he added.
Rules at night it will not be strictly enforced. But this rule is supported by educational programs and information for cat owners confine their pets from dusk till dawn. Also oversee each cat during the day and put two bells on their necks.
This rule covers an area of Balmain, Rozelle, Lilyfield, Annandale and Leichhardt. McKenzie said the cat owners are very cooperative.
Curfew does not apply to dogs just because dog can not climb the trees.

Giant Rats Eat 2 Infants

This week there are two terrible tragedies. The giant rats ate a two babies in two different events. Lunathi Dwadwa (3) died in his sleep in the slum area outside Cape Town. While others baby fall prey to a rat in Soweto, not far from Johannesburg within the same day.
Lunathi found dead in a terrible condition by her parents, Sunday (29/05/2011). There was no crying or screaming earlier.
"I can not forget how horrible condition of my child. Her eyes out. His face was damaged from eyebrow to cheek," said Bukiswa Dwadwa (27), the baby's mother.
"No one can do except rat," said Mncedisi Mokoena, father Lunathi.
Several hours later, police found a similar case. A baby girl was attacked a pack rat who was a teenager when her mother went with her friends.
"We got a call from the scene, about the death of baby in the rats attack," said police called Bongai Mhlongo.
"We arrested her on charges of negligence resulting in death," he added.
Last month, Nomathemba Joyi (77) were also killed after giant rats consuming the right side of his face.

Kids Mouse Cancel Flights
SYDNEY, - Qantas flight forced to cancel one flight because of the five rats was found in the cabin at Sydney Airport, Australia, Sky News reported on Wednesday (01/06/2011).
Cabin crew found five rat pups in a box of medical equipment about 15 minutes before its scheduled passenger ride. Qantas was forced to transfer passengers to another plane.
Besides destroying the rats, the officers also searched the entire plane because it was feared there are still other rats hiding in the cabin. Meanwhile, the team found no engine any damage which may be caused rats.

Want to Stop Smoking? just Suck The Carrot
WELLINGTON, - A prison in New Zealand offers a carrot to the prisoners to help them overcome the addiction to cigarettes. Next month in state prisons will be smoke free.
Carrots is intended to divert attention from the prisoners cigarettes. It's a healthier option than replacing cigarettes with other foods, candies, for example.
It was revealed from an internal memo that leaked from Invercargill Prison. In the memo mentioned prepared two carrots a day for each prisoner so that they stop smoking, smoke-free regulations enacted before July 1 next. The memo was called a jumbo-sized carrot to produce 16 bars if cut size of a cigarette carrots.
President of the Prison Association of New Zealand Beven Hanlon thought it was a joke when I first heard about it. "I think it's not the best idea, but worth a shot," said Hanlon.
Hanlon, the union representing prison guards, said the carrot sticks that are intended to distract the prisoners from the cigarette. It's a healthier option than replacing cigarettes with other foods, candies, for example.
"This is all related to the mouth ... if there is something in the mouth, then they would not find cigarettes to tuck," he said.

Passengers 'fight', Escorted by F-16 Aircraft
WASHINGTON, - Two F-16 fighter jets escorted a United Airlines plane back to Dulles International Airport outside Washington, after a fight broke out between two passengers on the flight destination was Ghana, officials said on Tuesday (31/05/2011 .)

Two F-16 fighter jets sent from Andrews Air Force Base after United's pilot reported a disturbance, said a spokesman for the North American Air Defense Command, U.S. Marine Major William Lewis. They escort the United Airlines plane back to Dulles, where the plane landed safely, said Lewis.
"They follow specific procedures in the event of disruption," said Lewis. "That's usually done when there is violation of airspace."
